Triple Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' knee injury.
Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee while the Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
Jokic injured himself towards the end of the second quarter in an unintentional collision with teammate Spencer Jones.
His teammate landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately went down to the court grabbing his leg.
The star, who is leading the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, posted 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to incurring the setback.
He will have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
"Immediately, he knew there was a problem," said Denver head coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone who suffers an injury, that's gut-wrenching, especially somebody as special as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Of course, at this moment, I am focused just about him personally and the frustration of facing an event like that."
