Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the WSL team.
Her exit from Munich was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top strikers. Per reports, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Attack
The experienced striker's signing should represent a major uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club seem to be building momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
In the transfer market, the mid-season window has seen further business:
- The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding the midfielder's extension, a club official commented: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
