Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
