Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
