Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
