Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party
Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
